After years of feeling neglected, tenant farmers and the organisations that support them have probably never had so much attention in such a short space of time. Hard on the heels of the Rock Review, the HMT consultation and call for evidence around possible IHT changes for tenanted land and the Government’s response to the Rock Review, comes the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee inquiry to determine the priority actions to take forward from the Rock Review, evaluate the Government’s response to Baroness Rock’s findings, and consider how recent developments in the tenanted sector should be accounted for in any steps taken by the Government.
Those of us who are engaging with all of the above (and more, as the Welsh Government has been at it as well) may perhaps be forgiven for being a little out of breath (and ink) in trying to keep up with all this unaccustomed activity.
If any of our readers would like to respond to the EFRA inquiry, the call for evidence is here.
