Planners on the frontline

Planners on the frontline

A a new wave of talented planners with innovative ideas and ambitions for the communities of tomorrow will soon be landing on a local planning authority near you. This next next generation of planners will be placed on the frontline to design beautiful homes and provide high quality infrastructure right across the country, according to Minister for Housing and Planning, Rachel Maclean MP.

We have just returned to the office following a planning agents’ meeting with one of the local planning authorities (LPAs) we deal with on a regular basis. Some of the discussion was around the “costly delays and unnecessary bureaucracy that hold up development” mentioned by the Minister. Whilst much of that can be improved by procedural and attitudinal change, it would certainly also be helpful for LPAs to have more talented planners with innovative ideas and ambitions in post.
