Upland payment rates increased

The charm offensive of the UK Farm to Fork summit continues to be followed by various farming related announcements – see our article yesterday on tenancy issues. The good news today is the fact that the payment rates for some upland stewardship options are being increased to remove the disparity and the unfairness between the lowland and upland rates for the same actions. Where there are uplifts they are being backdated to 1 January 2023.

Upland farmers have also now got their very own information booklet Payments for Upland Farmers which will be worth having to hand when wondering about how to replace that £90 per acre BPS payment (already reduced by 35% for the 2023 claim year) as it reduces to nil by 2027.
