Planning permission granted for residential extensions

Acorn Rural Property Consultants is pleased to have obtained planning permission for a substantial extension and alteration of a dwelling in the Mid Devon countryside. The approved proposal includes the erection of two side extensions and a front extension, following the demolition of the existing attached garage.

A key part of the case for this proposal was demonstrating the potential fallback position under permitted development rights, which would have allowed for significant alterations and extensions to the property without the need for full planning permission. By presenting what could have been achieved under permitted development rights, we were able to highlight the benefits of pursuing a more cohesive and better-designed scheme through the planning process.

This carefully designed scheme will enhance the appearance and functionality of the existing home, providing a higher standard of amenity for the occupants. By extending the dwelling’s footprint and improving its external appearance with a mix of high-quality materials, the project complements the rural setting while significantly upgrading the internal layout and overall living space.
