Capital grants 2026 opens for applications

Defra has announced today that the Capital Grants 2026 scheme is now open for new applications.

The scheme provides funding for a range of environmental improvements and capital works. The scheme supports projects that improve water quality, air quality, biodiversity and flood management.

Applicants are encouraged to review the guidance carefully and ensure that all supporting evidence and permissions are in place before applying. Supporting evidence must be submitted to the Rural Payments Agency within 10 days of an application being made.

In anticipation of the scheme opening, we have been working with clients to prepare applications for some time and Molly Hunter here has submitted an application today and will be submitting others shortly as the funding will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Molly is the first point of contact for anyone looking to discuss opportunities under the scheme or submit an application.

Defra has committed to publishing milestones to inform applicants when 25%, 50% and 75% of the available budget has been allocated. Within hours of the scheme opening, 25% of the available budget has already been allocated.

If you would like assistance please contact the office on 01884 212380 or email Molly Hunter at mollyhunter@acornrpc.co.uk
