Mid Devon District Council’s (MDDC’s) call for sites is still open, but time is running out! The deadline for submissions is Thursday 14 March 2025.
This is a key opportunity for landowners, developers and community groups to put forward land that could be considered for future development as part of the development of the local plan for the district.
A site should only be suggested for housing development if it could accommodate at least 5 homes or it measures at least 0.15 hectares. A site should only be suggested for economic development if it measures at least 0.25 hectares or could provide at least 500 square metres of floor space.
MDDC has said that it is particularly interested in smaller sites (under 1 hectare) as these sites can have the wider benefits of supporting small and medium enterprises, self/custom-build development and community led schemes. The Government has also indicated that they wish to see small sites of 1 hectare or less make up 10% of the district’s housing requirement.
If you have land that may be suitable for development, now is the time to put it forward. For further details or assistance with your submission, please contact our office.
