SFI 2023 offer

Farming Minister The Rt Hon Mark Spencer MP has announced the launch of the 2023 Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer today. This is the full expanded SFI offer and, in launching it, the Minister said, “After listening to extensive feedback from farmers, we’ve done a huge amount to streamline and improve the Sustainable Farming Incentive, making it as simple and flexible as possible for farmers to engage with, apply for and embrace.”

The improved streamlined scheme now includes 23 “actions” and a non-exclusive multiple choice approach to selecting options within those actions for which payment will be made.

Applications for SFI 2023 will start to be accepted through a controlled rollout beginning in August and will be made through the RPA portal. Exiting SFI agreement holders will be able to access the new options and Defra says that will be in touch with all farmers signed up to the original scheme, as well as those who had submitted applications but who do not have an agreement in place, to explain how they can access the payments, benefits and improvements in the 2023 offer.

The SFI 2023 also includes a simplified and streamlined 156 page handbook to provide farmers with all the information and guidance they need to be able to apply for the SFI themselves without needing professional assistance. However, if all else fails, we will be here to help as usual.
