Planning permission obtained for expansion of scenic holiday retreat

Acorn Rural Property Consultants has secured planning permission for the conversion of a former agricultural building to accommodate three bedrooms, an indoor swimming pool, and a games room to extend an existing seven-bedroom holiday let that had demonstrated a demand for larger groups and more facilities for guests.

Local plan policies that supported the development endorsed the small-scale expansion of rural businesses and sustainable, high-quality tourism.

The location of the development in the East Devon National Landscape and a designated bat consultation zone associated with a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) meant that the design and ecological impacts of the development were carefully considered in the application. Initial concerns about the design and light spill were addressed to ensure that the development will preserve the scenic beauty of the landscape and conserve the SAC.
