Habitat Mapping
Detailed ecological maps illustrating the different habitat types present

Habitat Mapping

Habitat maps are usually completed in conjunction with PEAs or BNG assessments but can be offered as a standalone service if required. Habitats can be categorised according to the vegetation they support, the geographic context, the geology and hydrology. Each habitat is assigned a broad habitat type and a unique landscape term. Habitat maps show which plants or animals may be found on or within the close vicinity of the site and provide an indication of which plants, animals or even whole habitats might be affected by a proposal. The habitat categorisation can be transferred into the Defra BNG metric where a BNG assessment is required.

We can offer detailed ecological maps of a site illustrating the different habitat types present and, if necessary, proposed site layouts with post development habitats, ecological enhancements and/or mitigation measures.
